The Dasvandh Box Initiative has launched!

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

After months of hard work and coordination, the Dasvandh Box Initiative launched at various Gurdwaras across North America this past weekend! After lots of hours of work put in by the DVN team and volunteers in making sure the program launches and runs smoothly over the next seven weeks, we wanted to take a moment and reflect on the experience of the DBI from the organizational perspective.

The 5 Best Things (of many!!) of helping with the DBI:

  1. Finding out about Gurdwaras that we did not know existed, in places we couldn’t previously locate on a map!
  2. Seeing how enthusiastic parents and educators from various Gurdwaras are about bringing the program to their local sangats.
  3. Knowing that hundreds of children are formally learning about the importance of contributing Dasvandh, a tradition we’ve learned (but often ignored) from Sikh history.
  4. Adults and children get to learn about the different types of Panthic projects that are currently on the DVN platform.
  5. Seeing children receive and put togetheir their Dasvandh Box. 🙂

(Bonus: 6: The DVN t-shirt!!! It’s gloriously comfortable and soft!!)

There are a lot more points on how and why the DBI is a rewarding experience for its organizers and volunteers, and its young participants. If you are a volunteer or participant, we would love to hear from you! If you couldn’t join the Fall launch of the DBI but would like to in the future, just let us know and we’ll make it happen!
